Merx Gekruid is a spherical grating cheese made from full Jersey cow's milk. During preparation, fleur de sel (salt), ground black pepper and chopped garlic are added to the curd. The cheeses are then covered with a mixture of dried flowers, which gives the cheeses a very attractive appearance. The cheeses then have to ripen for another 8 weeks in order to get dry enough for grating and to develop their typical flavor. The cheeses have a spicy, intense taste of salt, pepper, garlic and broth (umami). The cheese first melts in the mouth and then releases its rich herbal pallet. These cheeses are ideal for flavoring all kinds of dishes. This can be done by grating or shaving the cheese over the dishes. You can use this cheese as a finishing touch on a salad, on a steak, on a pasta, on an omelette, on a fried fish, in a soup, ... The taste of a dish with or without this cheese really makes a world of difference! Try it yourself and you will be convinced!
